Mycodermatitis

Mycotic dermatitis (mycodermatitis, from the ancient Greek mykes - fungus and dermatitis - skin disease) is a chronic skin disease caused by certain types of fungal pathogens and manifested by damage to the stratum corneum of the epidermis, an inflammatory reaction of the skin. Some types of mycotic dermatitis are pathognomonic and in most cases allow a correct diagnosis to be made in the absence of laboratory data. Various manifestations of mycotosis, epidermophytosis and impetigo are caused by the association of fungi with accompanying and possibly enhancing microflora.
