**Focal myocarditis** is an inflammatory lesion of the myocardium, limited to damage to individual sections of it, either microscopically or macroscopically defined areas of the myocardial wall, detected mainly during a biopsy of the heart muscle.
The focal form is most common in adults; it is rare in young people. Among the adult population, it is more common in men and among male smokers. Isolated focal lesions are rare; multiple focal changes are more common. The focal process is diffuse, but in the form of multiple focal changes is usually not considered as sporadic myocarditis (Marion myocarditis).
