Muscle, Back Latissimus (T. Latissimus Dorsi, Pna, Bna, Jna)

**The latissimus dorsi muscle (lat. Musculus latissimus dorsi)** is one of the largest back muscles in size. It is a large cutaneous muscle of the head and neck. Long and wide, it runs from the lower angle of the scapula to the iliac crest and below it to the body of the sacrum and coccyx. The wide tendons of this muscle are attached from its beginning to its end behind the tubercles of the humerus.

The latissimus muscle is divided into three bundles: lateral, medial and middle. It starts from the lower third of the posteroinferior edge of the scapula on the lateral side and the entire anterior surface of the spine. The cervical muscles extend from the medial and lateral angles of the scapula to the spine at the lower edge of the rib, and the occipital muscles lie superficially on the cervical muscles, extending to the shoulder.

**Skeletal location of the latissimus dorsi muscle**

The latissimus muscles begin at the lower border of the posterior angle of the scapula, extend downward and outward, joining the seat
