Muscle, Semispinalis

The semispinalis muscles are one of the main muscle groups of the back. They are involved in flexion and extension of the shoulder and also play an important role in stabilizing the spine.

The semispinalis muscle is also known as the semispinalis dorsi muscle, one of the main motor units in the back muscle group. The semispinalis muscles run from the spine to the humerus. The main task of this muscle group is to straighten the shoulder.

Types of semispinalis muscles

There are several types of semispinalis muscles, including:

1. The semispinalis lower back muscle (m. lumbus simiserius superficialissimus) - it extends from the top of the lumbar region to the bottom of the chest. This muscle connects the spine to the lower back muscle. 2. Semi-spinalis longus dorsi muscle (m lumbus longus) - originates from the spine at the L2 level, stretches down between the ischial tuberosities and the tip of the gluteal gland. This is a long transverse muscle that plays an important role in stretching with the arms, sitting down and standing up. 3. Semi-Pruscus medius dorsi muscle or m. thoracissimius is the longest muscle of the body, which stretches from the collarbone to the end of the costal arch. It crosses the body from behind, behind the back. Divided into two branches, each of which consists of two or three muscle bands. This type of semiaxial muscle performs lifting, flexion and rotation of the torso. 4. Half-scrolls of the long back muscles (m fasycii longi dorsi) - protrude from behind the scapula and ilium and pass behind the middle band of the dorsal muscle and descend along the upper part of the humerus above the elbow joint. Serves for movement of the upper limb. 5. Half-scroll deep in the muscles (m thoracodorsalis) - starts from the fourth thoracic vertebra, runs along the transverse processes of the sixth to ninth ribs and is attached to the upper border of the scapula. Directly participating in flexion of the shoulder of the arm and promotes inward rotation of the scapula. It also protects the corner
