Myeloma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelomatosis

Myeloma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelomatosis is a malignant disease of red bone marrow cells, which is characterized by the following main features:

  1. The presence of an abnormally large number of plasma cells in the bone marrow.

  2. Characteristic bone changes in the form of small depressions that become noticeable during X-ray examination.

  3. Increased levels of gammaglobulin in the blood, most often immunoglobulin G. Bence-Jones protein may be present in the blood or urine.

Patients experience severe weakness and fatigue due to anemia. Bone pain and pathological fractures are also noted.

Treatment includes the chemotherapy drugs melphalan and cyclophosphamide, as well as local radiation therapy to the affected bones. In some cases, whole body radiation therapy is performed.

Myeloma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelomatosis is a malignant lesion of red bone marrow cells, which is characterized by the presence of an abnormally large number of plasma cells in the bone marrow. This disease is one of the most common types of blood tumors.

The main signs of myeloma are characteristic bone changes that become noticeable during an X-ray examination and look like small depressions. An abnormally large amount of gammaglobulin, usually immunoglobulin, may also be found in the patient's blood serum. Bence Jones protein may also be present in the patient's blood serum or urine.

In addition, the patient complains of increased fatigue caused by his anemia and bone pain. Pathological fractures of the limb bones can often develop.

Myeloma is usually treated with melphalan or cyclophosphamide and local radiation therapy. Radiation therapy to the whole body is also given as part of primary treatment for myeloma. In some cases, a bone marrow transplant may be required.

One of the main methods for diagnosing myeloma is a bone marrow biopsy. Blood serum and urine may also be tested for the presence of Bence Jones proteins and gammaglobulin.

It is important to note that myeloma is a serious disease that requires complex treatment. Early consultation with a doctor and timely initiation of treatment can increase the chances of a complete cure for this disease. You should also remember the need for regular monitoring of your health after treatment in order to promptly identify possible relapses and take measures to prevent them.

It's also worth noting that myeloma shares many features with other blood tumors such as lymphoma and leukemia. Therefore, for an accurate diagnosis and prescribing the most effective treatment, it is recommended to consult an oncologist.

Myeloma and multiple myeloma are one of the most common types of cancer. These diseases are characterized by malignant lesions of red bone marrow cells. They are usually associated with increased levels of white blood cells in the blood. In myeloma, the number of plasma cells increases, which leads to characteristic changes in the bones and other organs. Treatment is carried out using chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, sometimes, even after proper treatment, the disease may not go away completely. Also, doctors cannot always understand the true cause of myeloma, which makes treatment even more difficult. As a result, to successfully combat this disease, symptoms must be identified as early as possible.
