Coma myxedema disease occurs due to decreased levels of thyroid hormones, especially the thyroid gland (thyroid gland). This is an endocrine disorder that causes the thyroid gland to produce less hormones than the body needs. A lack of these hormones can cause a variety of diseases, including slow development in children, heart failure and, in severe cases, death.
Myxedema coma is usually the result of a malfunctioning thyroid gland or medications prescribed to treat other conditions. These drugs are antithyroid medications that control thyroid hormones in the body. Triggers for the development of myxidema myxida are usually low levels of thyroid hormone production or high levels of an antithyroid drug taken for medical reasons, which has negative effects on the thyroid gland.
Typically treated with a cocktail of hormones
