Structure and viability Nocardia minutissa is a group of aerobic gram-positive bacilli with a slightly elongated shape. Their size ranges from 0.2 to 3 or more microns. Gram-negative bacteria belong to the order Actinomycetales. The species Corynebacterium amycolatum belongs to the genus Actinomyces of the family Mycobacteriaceae. Nocardiae are both thermophiles and mesophiles (growth optimum at 30°C). Some species are resistant to acids and alkalis.
Bacteria of this species have a heteropolis capsule
