Oxygenator

Oxygenator (oxygenator equipment) is a device for supplying compressed oxygen under pressure (from approximately 0.4 to 5–7 atmospheres) into the human or animal body for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes, as well as for enriching or deaerating gas mixtures in industries, gas systems control, etc. In many sources, oxygen-breathing equipment is incorrectly called. Currently, most oxygenators operate at atmospheric pressure. Oxygenators are designed for oxygenation with an air-oxygen mixture during resuscitation measures. There are also ventilators for inhalation anesthesia and artificial respiration for poisoning with excess oxygen. Oxygenated saline is also used to combat clinical cases of hypoxia (anoxia).
