Omez: an effective anti-ulcer drug from India

Omez (Omeprazole) is a pharmacological drug produced in India and belongs to the group of antiulcer drugs. It is widely used to treat various gastrointestinal diseases such as peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease and pathological hypersecretory conditions.

The drug Omez is produced by Doctor Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. in the form of capsules containing 20 mg of omeprazole as an active ingredient. Omez has the international name "Omeprazole" and is also known under various synonyms, including Vero-Omeprazole, Gastrozole, Zerotsid, Zolser, Lokit, Lomac, Losek, Losek MAPS, Omegast, Omezol, Omepar, Omeprazole-Akos, Omeprazole-Acri, Omeprazole- N.S., Omeprazole-Olaine, Omeprazole-Richter, Omeprazole-FPO, Omeprol, Omeprus, Omefez, Omizak, Omipix and others.

Omez is indicated for use in the following cases: peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute phase, gastroesophageal reflux disease (including cases when it cannot be treated with H2 antagonists), reflux esophagitis (including erosive and ulcerative variants), pathological hypersecretory conditions (such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, polyendocrine adenomatosis, systemic mastocytosis, stress ulcers), peptic ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract caused by Helicobacter pylori, gastroenteropathy associated with taking NSAIDs, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum in HIV-infected patients, as well as for the treatment of non-ulcer dyspepsia.

However, there are a number of contraindications to the use of Omez, including hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Like any medicine, Omez may cause side effects. The most common gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, as well as changes in taste sensitivity, stomatitis and candidiasis (yeast infection). . Headache, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, dry skin, itching, rash and allergic reactions may also occur.
