Omezhnik water
Omezhnik aquatic is a herbaceous plant of the Umbelliferae family. Also known by the popular names tubular caraway, horse fennel, horse cumin. Pharmacies sell the fruits of the plant called Phellandrii fructus.
The stem of the aquatic plant is spread-branched and reaches a height of about 1.5 m. The leaves are twice to five times pinnately divided. The lowermost leaves, immersed in water, are hair-like. The flowers are white, collected in flat umbels.
It grows throughout Europe in swamps, ditches, and lakes. Widely distributed in western Asia.
Contains essential and fatty oils, resins, waxes and gum-like substances.
Previously used for coughs, flatulence and as a diuretic.
