Orange children
Little yellow babies are snoring in the cribs of the children's ward of the maternity hospital. It’s a common thing, doctors say, and, more often than not, they are right. After all, jaundice, which occurs in many babies on days 3–5 of life, is an absolutely normal phenomenon that goes away without any consequences. But sometimes not only the physiological jaundice of a newborn, but also a number of other diseases are responsible for the yellow color of the skin.
Jaundice in newborns can be caused by various reasons: immaturity of the liver, incompatibility of the blood of mother and child, infections, hereditary diseases, etc. Although in most cases it is harmless, sometimes jaundice can have serious consequences. Therefore, it is important that after discharge from the maternity hospital the child is examined by a pediatrician. He will be able to determine the cause and degree of jaundice, prescribe the necessary treatment and prevent possible complications.
With proper care and timely consultation with a doctor, “orange” children will quickly get rid of jaundice and become healthy and rosy-cheeked babies. The main thing is not to worry, but to entrust the care of them to an experienced pediatrician.
