Inguinal Canal

The inguinal canal is a narrow slit-like cavity between the outer and inner layers of the aponeurosis of the external oblique abdominal muscle. It is covered in front by the superficial fascia and behind by the gluteal fascia. In the transverse direction it is split into upper and lower sections. Contains the superficial vein, umbilical ring, nerves, lymph nodes and fibers of a number of internal organs.
