Paraffin

Paraffin is a petroleum refining product. In this form, this valuable substance is used as a solvent for oil paints. It is also used in the manufacture of matches and stearin candles; if necessary, it is even used to dye fabrics.

But when paraffin loses its solid structure due to high temperatures or something else, it is converted into volatile compounds. They provide the warm glow of paraffin candles and wax figurines. The liquefied product, when solidified, turns into crystalline paraffin of varying degrees of transparency.

Very often it is called cetearin - a purified mixture of fatty alcohols obtained by hydrolysis of vegetable oil. For all solid products obtained from petroleum, the presence of a high melting point is considered a positive quality, since it allows their use in the manufacturing technology of certain cosmetics and thereby ensures hygiene.
