Parapoxviruses

Parapox viruses are a family of viruses that can cause fever in humans. Scientists classify them as viruses of the smallpox group (Parapoxviridae). Parapoxviruses are most commonly referred to as porcine paramyxoviruses, a type of microbe that causes several diseases in both animals and humans. They are named by a word similar to smallpox - parapox - to avoid confusion with the real smallpox virus. Paramyxovirus serotype 2 is the human form of the virus that causes chickenpox
