Agrimony, also known as common agrimony, is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Rosaceae family. It can reach a height of up to one meter, has an erect stem covered with a rough, hairy surface. The leaves of the plant are intermittently pinnate, with stipules.
The agrimony blooms in June-July, its flowers are small and golden-yellow, collected in long spike-shaped inflorescences. The fruit is a small achene that ripens in July-August. The plant is distributed throughout the European part of the USSR, the Caucasus and Central Asia, and grows in meadows, forest edges, among bushes, along the edges of roads and along fences.
The aerial part of the plant is used in various fields, including the leather and textile industries, veterinary medicine and medicine. Agrimony is a good honey plant. But the main medicinal raw material is grass, sometimes roots. The grass is collected before and during flowering, the leafy stems are cut at a height of 7-10 cm from the ground, dried in the shade, under a canopy or in a dryer at a temperature of 40-50 ° C, and stored in a wooden container for up to two years.
The aerial parts of thistle contain glucose, fructose, sucrose, polysaccharides, fatty and organic acids, steroids, nitrogen-containing compounds, phenolcarboxylic acids, tannins, catechins and flavonoids. Aqueous and alcoholic extracts from the herb have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, tonic, diuretic, hemostatic, astringent, anthelmintic, antidiarrheal and antitumor effects.
The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects of burdock herb are used in the treatment of gout, rheumatism, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, and for rinsing the mouth and pharynx for inflammatory diseases. To prepare the infusion, pour 1 tablespoon of the raw material into 0.5 liters of boiling water and leave for 2-3 hours, take 1/2-1/3 cup 3 times a day before meals.
Powder from the herb is taken for sore throat, furunculosis, skin diseases, eczema and other skin diseases. To make the powder, the herb is dried and ground into powder. Take 1/2-1 teaspoon of powder 3 times a day with water.
Also, burdock is used to improve the condition of hair and scalp. To do this, prepare an infusion of herbs and apply it to the hair and scalp. The infusion can also be added to shampoo or conditioner for hair care.
