The middle kidney is an unpaired kidney, located in the human abdominal cavity and is part of the urinary system. It performs the function of filtering and removing urine from the blood that circulates throughout the body.

The middle kidney consists of tissue consisting of renal tube cells (nephrons), which are located inside the renal pelvis. Kidney tissue contains capillaries, veins and arteries that provide blood circulation within the kidney.
