Nowadays, a large number of people suffer from various types of arthritis. There are many joint diseases, including rare forms, such as yersinioid polyarthritis. In medical practice, this term is not often used, but nevertheless it is relevant and has a place in the modern world.
Polyarthritis is a chronic inflammation of the connective tissue in the joints. Many types of such pathologies are known. Among them: rheumatoid arthritis, gout, spondylitis and others. But there are also less common types of arthritis, which include yersenial polyarthritis. This is an infectious type of disease, which in terms of symptoms and manifestations is very similar to all other arthritis. In some cases, it is even difficult to establish an accurate diagnosis.
Yersiniesis is called "pig farmer's disease" because the disease spreads among people who frequently handle pigs, particularly veterinarians. Therefore, patients most often have some kind of work with animals. It is characterized by a complex course that can result in disability or death of the patient.
The first signs of infectious arthritis develop within 7-21 days after infection. The disease is characterized by damage to the serous membrane of various joints, as well as the hip and shoulder joints. In this case, the infection also affects bone tissue. A purulent inflammation appears, accompanied by severe pain and limited joint mobility. Later, swelling of the surrounding tissues occurs, and the skin above it turns red. The ulcers open on their own. The inflammatory process occurs without scarring.
