Sling bandage

A sling-shaped bandage is used to protect the sore shoulder from possible movements in the shoulder girdle or in the scapula area, as well as for local anti-exudative treatment after injury and dislocation. When blood accumulates in the periarticular tissues, sling-shaped dressings facilitate its evacuation, so they are effective for hemarthrosis, fibrous synovitis and subcapsular dislocation of the shoulders. Such bandages are applied after novocaine blockade and oxygen therapy over both shoulder joints. Paravertebral and Culex splints are sometimes applied under sling-shaped bandages.
