Predian is an antidiabetic drug produced in the country of Yugoslavia. This medicine belongs to the group of sulfonyl urea derivatives. Its active ingredient is gliclazide, which is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus. Predian is prescribed both in monotherapy and in combination with other drugs. Before taking it, you must make sure that the patient has no contraindications to its use. Side effects include possible consequences from the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain) and from the heart and blood (reversible cytopenia, eosonophilia, anemia). In case of an overdose of the drug, the following may occur: a hypoglycemic state up to a coma and cerebral edema. To help the patient cope with these symptoms, you need to take a glucose solution orally. In addition, careful monitoring of blood sugar levels, as well as the amount of urea nitrogen and electrolytes will be required. In case of cerebral edema, you should immediately consult a doctor. It is not recommended to combine the drug with medications based on the following active substances:
- Beta-blockers (can hide the symptoms of hypoglycemia); -
