We have already indicated in the paragraph on dressings what you should know in this regard, and mentioned wax ointments, pouring with tart wine and the like. Now we will repeat this and say that in wax ointments and other medicines that you use, there should be no harshness, on the contrary, let them be as soft and gentle as possible. Wax ointments should also not be used where rotting is feared, or where there are numerous parts of broken bones; such tissue fractures are predisposed to rotting, since most of them are accompanied by ulcers.
As for hot water and pouring it over, we have already talked about this and reported that warm water has the ability to dissolve the matter that causes itching and attract nutrients to the fracture site. It is also necessary in cases where the organ has dried out and become rough from over-tightening; its quantity is well known.
