Pseudopolyploidy

Origin of the term First, I propose to understand the term pseudopolyplosis itself. The term is a modified version of "megipolyplosia". This word was introduced by the American geneticist and genetic biologist Ralph Stoller to refer to the phenomenon in which chromosomes in organisms are present in double numbers. It is known that chromosomes consist of DNA and proteins - nucleoproteins. It is noteworthy that this phenomenon can occur specifically in diploid organisms. After the study, it became known that multiple changes in the number of chromosomes in the genotype contributed to the development and maintenance of altered traits in certain environments.
