Pseudoxanthomatosis of the Newborn [Pseudoxanthomatosis Neonatorum; Pseudo- + Xanthoma (Xanthomat- Base) + -O]

Pseudo-anthomosis (ancient Greek pseudos - false, ὀξανθος - yellow) is a group of hereditary diseases characterized by early skin changes, often in the form of yellow nodular formations ranging in size from several millimeters to several centimeters. The pathogenesis is based on the deposition of lipids (mainly cholesterol and its esters) in the intercellular substance of the dermis, in the stroma of elastic fibers and small vessels of the dermis (mainly arterioles).
