Valve Atrioventricular Right

The atrioventricular valve, also called the tricuspid valve, is one of two valves that regulate the flow of blood between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart. It is located in the right atrium and consists of three leaflets: anterior, posterior and septal.

The tricuspid valve plays an important role in regulating the cardiac cycle. When the heart beats, blood from the right atrium passes through this valve, which opens and closes depending on the heart rhythm. When the tricuspid valve opens, blood enters the right ventricle, where it is then pumped to the lungs for oxygenation and removal of carbon dioxide.

However, if the tricuspid valve does not function properly, it can lead to various problems such as pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the health of this valve and, if necessary, carry out treatment or surgical correction.
