Bug eyes are an ophthalmological pathology in which there is an asymmetrical excessive expansion of the palpebral fissure relative to generally accepted norms, as well as accompanied by ptosis and impaired mobility of the joints of the head. The pathology may be congenital or occur during the development of the child.

In the event of the development of pathological processes, the first and main symptom of bulging eyes is an increased visual perception of some corneas over others, against which the patient experiences discomfort, pain and other symptoms. This is a pathology that requires diagnosing the causes of its occurrence and subsequent treatment. Otherwise, there may be serious consequences: blindness in both eyes or the development of cataracts, atrophy of the optic nerves and the onset of complete blindness. Only timely diagnosis and treatment will avoid complications and restore full visual function.
