Reflex Musculocutaneous

Skin-muscle reflex

What is musculocutaneous? The skin-muscle reflex is one of the protective and innate physiological reflexes, for example, the body’s response to mechanical irritations - friction. Belongs to the group of attitudinal reflexes. It serves as the basis for complex reflex mechanisms - the formation of aversion (to substances unpleasant to the body), immunity.

Represents a normal reaction of muscle tissue to irritation. This causes muscle contraction. When an object that experiences muscle tension, the so-called skin sac, touches the skin, a neuromuscular reaction occurs, expressed in muscle contractions. But at the same time, not all the muscles of the abdominal wall contract, but only certain groups. In this case, the muscles on the abdomen tense in different directions. Sometimes patients cannot be without a belt or corset, as this will only increase tension in the abdominal wall. Also, with such a reaction, pain is observed.
