Pyelo-retroperitoneal reflux is a pathological condition in which urine backflows from the ureter into the renal pelvis and further into the renal collecting system.
Causes:
- congenital anomaly of the urinary tract
- cicatricial changes in the area of the ureterovesical junction
- obstruction (blockage) of the ureter by a tumor or stone
Clinical manifestations:
- pain and discomfort in the lumbar region
- elevated body temperature
- frequent urge to urinate
- recurrent urinary tract infections
Diagnostics:
- Analysis of urine
- Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract
- excretory urography
- radioisotope research
Treatment:
- antibacterial therapy
- surgery to restore patency of the ureter
- in case of severe reflux - surgical intervention to prevent reverse reflux of urine
The prognosis depends on the severity of reflux and the timeliness of treatment. With adequate therapy, complete recovery is possible.
Pyelo-retroperitoneal reflux is a pathological condition in which urine flows from the ureter into the renal pelvis and further into the renal parenchyma.
Causes:
- congenital anomaly of the urinary tract
- cicatricial changes in the area of the ureteropelvic segment
- compression of the ureter from the outside by a tumor or other pathological process
Clinical manifestations:
- pain in the lumbar region
- increase in body temperature
- dysuria
- hematuria
Diagnosis is based on:
- urine analysis (leukocyturia, bacteriuria)
- Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract
- excretory urography
- retrograde pyelography
Treatment:
- antibacterial therapy
- correction of urodynamic disorders
- in severe cases - surgery
The prognosis depends on the timeliness of diagnosis and the adequacy of treatment. If you follow your doctor's recommendations, a complete recovery is possible.
