Reflux Pyeloretroperitoneal

Pyelo-retroperitoneal reflux is a pathological condition in which urine backflows from the ureter into the renal pelvis and further into the renal collecting system.

Causes:

  1. congenital anomaly of the urinary tract
  2. cicatricial changes in the area of the ureterovesical junction
  3. obstruction (blockage) of the ureter by a tumor or stone

Clinical manifestations:

  1. pain and discomfort in the lumbar region
  2. elevated body temperature
  3. frequent urge to urinate
  4. recurrent urinary tract infections

Diagnostics:

  1. Analysis of urine
  2. Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract
  3. excretory urography
  4. radioisotope research

Treatment:

  1. antibacterial therapy
  2. surgery to restore patency of the ureter
  3. in case of severe reflux - surgical intervention to prevent reverse reflux of urine

The prognosis depends on the severity of reflux and the timeliness of treatment. With adequate therapy, complete recovery is possible.

Causes:

  1. congenital anomaly of the urinary tract
  2. cicatricial changes in the area of the ureteropelvic segment
  3. compression of the ureter from the outside by a tumor or other pathological process

Clinical manifestations:

  1. pain in the lumbar region
  2. increase in body temperature
  3. dysuria
  4. hematuria

Diagnosis is based on:

  1. urine analysis (leukocyturia, bacteriuria)
  2. Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract
  3. excretory urography
  4. retrograde pyelography

Treatment:

  1. antibacterial therapy
  2. correction of urodynamic disorders
  3. in severe cases - surgery

The prognosis depends on the timeliness of diagnosis and the adequacy of treatment. If you follow your doctor's recommendations, a complete recovery is possible.
