Retrograde cholangiopancreatography

Retrograde cholangiopancreatography (RPG) is a method for diagnosing diseases of the biliary tract and pancreas, based on the introduction of a contrast agent through the duodenum.

The name of the method consists of three parts: cholangio-, pancreas and grapho-. Cholangio refers to the biliary tract, pancreas refers to the pancreas, and grapho means “to write, depict.” Thus, CPG makes it possible to obtain an image of the biliary tract and pancreas using a contrast agent.

The CPG procedure is performed using an endoscope, which is inserted through the oral cavity to the duodenum. Then a thin flexible tube with a contrast agent is inserted into the intestine, which is distributed along the bile ducts and pancreas. An X-ray machine or ultrasound is then used to obtain images of these organs.

CPG is one of the most accurate methods for diagnosing diseases of the biliary tract and pancreas. It allows you to identify diseases such as cholecystitis, cholangitis, cancer of the gallbladder and biliary tract, pancreatitis and others. In addition, CPG can be used to treat certain conditions, such as the removal of gallstones.

CPH is a safe and minimally invasive diagnostic method. However, before the procedure, it is necessary to undergo an examination and receive recommendations from a doctor. In some cases, for example, if you are allergic to the contrast agent or if you have other diseases, CPG may be contraindicated. Therefore, it is important to consult with your doctor and get all the necessary recommendations before the CPH procedure.

Cholangiopancreatography, or retrograde cholangiopancreatography (RCPG) is a diagnostic method that allows you to examine the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts. This method is used to diagnose diseases associated with these organs.

RCP is performed using special equipment - an endoscope with a camera and lighting. The endoscope is inserted through the mouth and passes through the esophagus into the stomach and then into the intestines. In the intestine, the endoscope passes through an opening in the intestine called an ileostomy. The endoscope then passes through the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts.

This method allows you to see the condition of the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts, as well as detect any changes or neoplasms. ERCP can also be used to remove stones from the bile ducts or pancreatic ducts.
