Rickettsia Acari

Rickettsiales are a monotypic class of obligate intracellular bacteria of the phylum Rickettsiacea, including only one genus, Rickettsia, characterized by the analysis of a number of “dentition” genes. This class was identified based on a global analysis of genomic regions including “teeth” (tag), phenotypically similar to rickettsia, and the rickettsia (rseA), capsular (caps) and Rifr (ring) genes. They are spread by insects and can cause disease in animals and humans.
