R. G. Reese, 1866—1926, American ophthalmologist.

Born in 1866 in Missouri, USA. In 1885 he graduated from the medical school of St. Louis University. From 1894 he worked at St. Louis University and then at Ohio University. In 1920 he became professor of ophthalmology at the University of Illinois.

Riza Method is the author of several scientific works, including “The Effect of the Ciliary Muscle on the Shape of the Iris” (1910), “The Treatment of Cataracts” (1923) and “The Surgical Treatment of Aphakia” (1925).

He was also a pioneer in the field of ophthalmic surgery, developing treatments for various eye diseases such as cataracts and aphakia. His treatment for aphakia, known as “R. G. Riza”, is one of the most common methods of treating this disease.

In 1901, while working at the University of Missouri as an intern, he performed the world's first cataract surgery using a scalpel.

His contributions to ophthalmology have been recognized by many professionals in the field, and he has been awarded many awards and honors for his scientific achievements.
