Safa, Shirindj, Balkh script and botm

Safa belongs to the group of ulcerative acne; in most books it is usually mentioned in the paragraphs on cosmetics. Safa begins with light, itchy pimples scattered in various places, which then develop into ulcers with a scab and are reddish, sometimes they exude ichor and are called shirinj or wet sa?fa, and sometimes begin in the form of dry lichen. They often break out and go away quickly.

The cause of safa is a malignant, acute, corrosive liquid mixed with the blood, as well as thick malignant juices, the thick part of which is blocked, forming a tumor, and the liquid part spreads. The reason for dry safa is the abundant black gall juice, to which a caustic liquid is mixed; it rushes to the skin, and the skin deteriorates and is corroded.

As for the Balkh ulcer, it is a type of malignant safa, while butm are black ulcers appearing on the legs, from the same matter that causes dilation of the veins, and the treatment of butm is close to the treatment of this disease.

The treatment of safa is close to the treatment of lichen, which we will soon mention, but now we will say that with dry safa, the removal of yellow gall and black gall juice, as well as salty mucus, is beneficial using, for example, a decoction of myrobalans with dodder, in which sabur and scammonium resin are placed , and after that they use substances that cleanse, with moisturizing, from the rest of the matter, for example, cheese whey with fresh smoke. They take both of them together in one ritl and mix in myrobalans, yellow and black, three dirhams each, dodder two dirhams and petroleum salt two danaks. After this, they limit themselves to cheese whey with dodder, taking thirty dirhams of whey and one and a half dirhams of dodder every day, if nature tolerates it and it is not excessive, or as much as can be tolerated. The patient avoids everything that has excessive sweetness - especially dates - or bitterness, or pungency or saltiness, and confines himself to fresh food that produces healthy juice, in which there is no pungency. The patient’s body is moisturized, in a bath or in another way, and blood is let out from the vessels of both hands, if there is an urgent need for this, or from a vessel irrigating this organ, for example, with a safa on the head - from a vessel on the forehead, from a vessel in the skin head, or from a vessel located behind the ears, because safa in most cases is on the head. Banks are also used when safa is on the head. If the safa is on the lower members, then blood is drawn from the lymphatic vein.

And when you do this, then scrape the safa vigorously until it begins to bleed, and try to let a lot of blood flow out, and then treat with local medicines, especially if, after bleeding the safa, you rubbed it with salt and vinegar.

With dry safa, it is sometimes useful to visit the bathhouse frequently without sitting there for a long time, and several times a day to hold the diseased organ over the steam of hot or warm water. Various oils and fats help with this, as well as treatment with moisturizing foods, oil lubrication and the use of drugs for injection into the nose. During bowel movements, medications are required that forcefully attract and remove black bile from the bottom, and after them they use cheese whey as already mentioned. It is also a good idea to place leeches near the diseased organ and you need to scrape and bleed the safa, and then use local medicines. Some people claim that the blood released from the safa by bleeding from a vessel close to it, for example, from a vessel behind the ears with a safa on the head, is a remedy for it; this blood is smeared and then washed off with beet juice and vitriol.
