Salpingography

Salpingography is an X-ray examination of the fallopian tubes, which allows one to assess their patency and condition.

To carry out the procedure, a contrast agent is injected through the cervix into the uterine cavity, which then enters the abdominal cavity through the fallopian tubes. In this case, a series of x-rays are taken, in which a contrast agent reveals the contours and condition of the fallopian tubes.

Salpingography can detect inflammatory changes in the tubes, their obstruction or partial obstruction. This is important for diagnosing the causes of infertility in women.

Thus, salpingography is an important diagnostic method that provides information about the condition of the fallopian tubes and their patency. This helps the doctor determine the causes of female infertility and prescribe the necessary treatment.

**Salpingograph** is a method for diagnosing the structure of the genital organs using contrast agents to fill them. This method is informative not only for obstruction of the fallopian tubes, but also for determining other gynecological diseases of the pelvis, since part of the uterus is located in the rectum. Ultrasound, CT, MRI or laparoscopy data are used in gynecology less frequently than the salpingograph. The main type of procedure is water salpingotomography.

The method is absolutely painless, without side effects, leaves no scars or injuries, and therefore has no consequences. Some restrictions are associated with the presence of severe chronic diseases - diabetes, cardiovascular pathologies and blood diseases. In case of exacerbation of bronchial asthma, in case of allergy to iodine, the procedure should be postponed. It is not recommended to resort to this method of examination when losing weight and after plastic surgery in the abdominal cavity. The method cannot be used if the patient has acute inflammation of any location and exacerbation of a chronic gastrointestinal disease. Doctors do not recommend pregnant women to perform this diagnostic operation. In this case, it is better to wait until childbirth to avoid stress and possible impact on the course of pregnancy.
