**Recurrent schizophrenia (Manichaeism)** is a type of recursive schizophrenia that lasts up to four years. It is an informal term used to describe patients who suffer from prolonged episodes of schizophrenia and alternate between periods of improvement and periods of worsening illness.[1] Although the exact etiological factor is unknown, some authors believe that genetics or inherited information, along with environmental influences, may be important in the occurrence of schizophrenia. Additionally, social isolation and stress contribute to relapse.[2][3]
