Sinusitis is an inflammation of the maxillary sinus. Sinusitis comes in different forms and can be either one-time or protracted. They are accompanied by various symptoms, such as a runny nose or nasal congestion. Sinusitis requires special conditions for nose care. Here we will look in more detail at one of the variants of acute sinusitis - acute sinusitis.
What is acute sinusitis?
Acute sinusitis can be defined as a strong acute form of sinusitis, occurring sharply and quickly, with all the manifestations of a purulent process in the maxillary or ethmoid paranasal sinuses. This is an acute inflammatory disease of the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus - odontogenic or non-infectious sinusitis. According to the statistics of sinusitis, cases of the disease are rare, but they do occur, usually in children and adolescents under 25 years of age. Non-infectious forms associated with chronic runny nose are not uncommon, and they have to be treated along with infectious sinusitis. In most cases, they do not require additional research (radiography, computed tomography), as they are diagnosed based on a typical picture. Characteristic signs of the disease that cannot be cured on your own:
purulent contents exiting through the nasal cavity, easily overcoming the thick consistency and mucus discharge; The thick pus is so viscous that in severe cases it easily blocks the nasal passages, completely blocking breathing.
