Acute abdomen is a collective concept that includes acute surgical diseases of the abdominal organs that require emergency hospitalization for surgical or conservative treatment.

Acute abdomen occurs in conditions such as:

4. Perforated ulcer of the stomach and duodenum
5. Strangulated hernia

The diagnosis of “acute abdomen” can be made at the prehospital stage in difficult from a diagnostic point of view cases when urgent hospitalization of the patient is required to clarify the cause and treatment. An acute abdomen is an indication for emergency surgical consultation and hospitalization.
