Spirochetes are single-celled microorganisms, some of which have the shape of a spiral ribbon. They can be either obligate, that is, not causing disease, or pathogenic, that is, capable of causing disease in humans. One such spirochete is Spiromcheta vincentii, also known as Vincent's spirochete.
