Strangulation

Strangulation.

Pinching holes

**_Strangulation_** - a state of suffocation from pinching various openings in the tissues of the neck in which the respiratory or circulatory organs may be located. In anatomy, the term “strangulation” is usually understood as partial or complete closure of the airway, up to the complete cessation of air flow. This dangerous condition can be caused by both mechanical influences and disruptions in the regulation of the nervous system. In especially severe cases, strangulation leads to death.

In the process of pinching, blood circulation and oxygen supply to the blood are disrupted. At the same time, the tissues starve, feeding partly on blood that is without oxygen. Living tissues contain a significant amount of water; their volume can increase several times. The vessels are compressed, and the muscle that grips them may partially die.
