Surrogacy: what is needed for success?

The desire to have a baby does not always coincide with physical possibility. However, this too can be resolved. Often the issue comes down only to money.

On average, the birth of a child from a surrogate mother will cost parents $25,000 - $30,000. The woman who will bear your son or daughter will receive about $15,000 (plus $400 for monthly maintenance during pregnancy). The rest will be spent on doctors' services and organizational issues.

If you have money, consider whether there are indications for surrogacy. According to the law, only those couples who are unable to give birth to a child on their own can use childbearing services. For example, when a wife has an abnormal development of the uterus, acquired pathologies due to unsuccessful childbirth, serious illnesses (in which bearing a child is associated with a risk to life), the inability to bear a child on her own, or a very difficult course of the first pregnancy. In Ukraine, the law also regulates the mandatory genetic relationship with the child of at least one parent. And the absence of such a relationship between the baby and the surrogate mother (in some countries, fertilization of the surrogate mother’s egg with the sperm of the future father is allowed).

For those who easily bear children and are ready to consider the topic from the point of view: “Should I become a surrogate mother?”, it is important to know what is needed for this. Firstly, physical and mental health. Secondly, there are no contraindications to bearing a child. Thirdly, the presence of at least one child (preferably born naturally). Fourthly, the husband’s notarized consent to participate in the program (with a waiver of claims to parental rights). We do not yet have age restrictions, but, most often, companies involved in the selection of surrogate mothers focus on the age of 25 - 30 years.
