Talonavicular ligament

Talocalcarpal ligament (SB)

The name of the bunch comes from the Latin talo and navis ("swinging boat"). The upper head of the talus is with this ligament, and the lower head is with the scaphoid bone. The head itself has corresponding roughness and pits, which ensures tight contact. It holds the head firmly while the ankle moves, preventing it from moving under the influence of force.

The ligamentous apparatus is one of the strongest structures of the entire musculoskeletal system, as it reliably secures the talus bone in the lower leg. If it does tear (for example, due to a bruise or injury), then even a slight displacement of the bone leads to instability of the ankle joint. Therefore, it is important to take care of the health of the ligaments, ensuring their sufficient blood supply and flexibility.
