Tractotomy

A tractotomy is a surgical procedure that involves cutting tissue between two anatomical structures, such as the brain and spinal cord, or between two organs, such as the stomach and intestines.

Tractotomy can be performed to treat a variety of conditions, such as brain and spinal cord tumors, and to correct congenital malformations. Surgery can be performed either openly or using laparoscopy (endoscopic surgery).

To perform a tractotomy, it is necessary to use special equipment such as a microscope, laser, and tissue cutting instruments. The operation can be long and complex, but thanks to modern technology and the experience of surgeons, it is usually successful.

After surgery, the patient may experience some complications such as bleeding, infection, or organ dysfunction. However, in most cases, tractotomy can achieve a significant improvement in the patient’s condition and restore his quality of life.
