Retinaculum Musculorum Peroneorum (Fibularium) Inferius, Pna]

**Retinaculum of the tendons of the inferior peroneal muscle (Retinculum of the inferior peroneal muscles, PNA)**

*Retinaculum* are a collection of muscle fibers located between the tendons of the gastrocnemius muscle and the ankle (talus). These fibers hold, anchor, and soothe the peroneus and tibialis tendons as they reach their end. This function places a lot of retinaculum in the ankle muscles, helping to soften the force placed on the ankle when walking on steps. The defect occurs in many diseases affecting the kneecap or during surgery on the knee area. The most common symptom is cramping, which occurs due to muscle strain or multiple tendons being cut at once.

As with other parts of the body, the patient may also experience **problems with tendon retention** such as **compression, spasm and retention**.

**Constriction** is any significant restriction or resistance to movement due to loss of elasticity or contraction of muscles, tendons, or ligaments that interferes with the normal function of a supporting or contributing joint. This compression can occur for various reasons. People are sometimes simply too tight in one position and cannot move their joints fully. Others expose themselves to stress or injury when tendons, mainly bones and surrounding tissues
