Undulant Fever

Undulant Fever is another name for the disease brucellosis. Brucellosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella. Characterized by fever, chills, sweating, weakness, headache and pain in the joints and muscles. The course of brucellosis is often wavy, with alternating periods of exacerbation and improvement - hence the name “undulating fever.” The disease is transmitted from animals to humans by consuming contaminated animal products. Diagnosis is based on blood tests and cultures. Treatment includes taking antibiotics. Prevention - compliance with hygiene rules and veterinary control.
