Uroliths are formations in the urinary tract, consisting primarily of salt crystals and protein. Depending on the location and composition, stones of the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra are distinguished. The composition of the stone includes three components: inorganic sediment (calcium, magnesium, ammonium salts, phosphates), organic deposits (fibrin, hemoglobin, hyaline casts, red blood cells, leukocytes, etc.), fibers of the epithelium of the walls of the urinary tract. Spontaneous passage of urine stones is possible only when their size is relatively small (up to 5 mm) and when there is a small block in the urinary tract. Random episodes of stone release occur mainly in patients with acute cystitis.
