Nodular syphilitic joint arthropathy is the most common bone form of syphilis. Syphilis is a chronic venereal disease caused by a spirochete, affecting the skin, mucous membranes, nervous system, internal organs and skeleton.

Syphilitic inflammation in the joint capsule is observed in all types of syphilitic intoxication, with the exception of neurosyphilis and dry syphiloma. More often it develops in older men. Develops as a painless swelling in the joint area. Other signs are absent or mildly expressed. Possible itching
