Valvular

Valvular (lat. valvularis) - related to the valvula, associated with the valvula.

In anatomy, valvula (Latin valvula - valve, valve) refers to various valves in the human and animal body, for example heart valves that prevent the reverse flow of blood.

Structures related to these valves are called valvular. For example, the valvular apparatus of the heart is a collection of valves, chordae and papillary muscles responsible for the proper functioning of the heart valves.

Valvular defects are pathologies associated with disruption of the heart valves, such as stenosis or valve insufficiency. Valvular insufficiency causes blood to flow back through the valves, while valvular stenosis causes difficulty opening the valves.
