Vein Vertebral Accessory

The vertebral accessory vein arises with the development of accessory vertebral veins, which pass from the lateral and anterior parts of the bodies of the lumbar and lower thoracic vertebrae (thoracolumbar accessory veins). It can be either single or multiple. The spinal accessory vein sometimes gives off branches to the inferior vena cava. Lymph leaves the spine through the intercostal vessels. The center of lymph formation in the spine is the spinal cord, the lymph of which flows into large trunks involved in the formation of the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic parts of the lymphatic system.
