Ventricle of Morgani
The ventricle of Morganii (ventriculum Morganii) is an unpaired muscular organ in the upper part of the pharynx containing glands that produce the enzyme mucin. Located parallel to the teeth in the area of the greater palatine foramen or the root of the tongue. It is analogous to the laryngeal ventricle, which is located below. The glands, which produce a lot of mucin, collect mucous secretions, which are swallowed along with saliva. In general, the blinking ventricle does not have the function of the digestive glandular mass of the tongue, located at the base of the mouth, and therefore does not participate in the digestion process.
