Vero-Metoclopramide: an antiemetic with the active substance metoclopramide

Vero-Metoclopramide is an antiemetic drug produced in Russia by the company Veropharm/Belgorod branch. It contains the active substance metoclopramide and is presented in the form of 10 mg tablets.

Metoclopramide, the drug's international name, is also known by various synonyms, including Apo-Metoclop, Gastrosil, Dibertil, Melomid, Metamol, Metoclopramide-Acri, Metoclopramide-FPO, Metpamid, Perinorm, Reglan, Ceruglian, Cerucal, and Cerulan.

Vero-Metoclopramide is used to treat vomiting and nausea, functional digestive disorders, reflux esophagitis, atony and hypotension of the stomach and duodenum, as well as to prepare for diagnostic studies of the gastrointestinal tract.

The drug has several contraindications, including hypersensitivity, glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders, pregnancy (first trimester) and breastfeeding (temporary cessation of breastfeeding during treatment).

When using Vero-Metoclopramide, side effects are possible, such as dry mouth, constipation or diarrhea, drowsiness, depression, extrapyramidal disorders (convulsive twitching of the facial muscles, impaired movement of the eyeballs, protruding tongue), edema, galactorrhea, hyperprolactinemia, menstrual irregularities, hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, skin rashes.

You should also consider the possibility of interaction of Vero-Metoclopramide with other drugs, for example, the effect of the drug may weaken anticholinesterase drugs, and antipsychotics may increase the likelihood of developing extrapyramidal disorders.

In case of an overdose of Vero-Metoclopramide, symptoms such as hypersomnia, disorientation and extrapyramidal disorders may occur. Treatment usually resolves on its own within 24 hours after discontinuation of the drug; if necessary, it may be necessary to prescribe anticholinergic and antiparkinsonian drugs.

It should also be taken into account that Vero-Metoclopramide may reduce concentration and increase reaction time during treatment, so it is recommended to avoid driving and performing other tasks that require increased concentration and quick reaction.
