Vesiculitis

Vesiculitis is an inflammation of the seminal vesicles. The seminal vesicles are located under the bladder next to the prostate gland. They produce and store sperm.

Causes

Vesiculitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection. The most common pathogens are Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Escherichia coli. Less common are Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Candida and other microorganisms. Risk factors include genitourinary infections, prostatic hyperplasia, and kidney stones.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of vesiculitis:

  1. Pain in the lower abdomen, groin

  2. Pain on palpation of the scrotum

  3. Dysuria (painful and frequent urination)

  4. Fever, chills

  5. Frequent and painful ejaculation

Diagnosis is carried out using urine, blood, and urethral swabs. They may prescribe an ultrasound, x-ray, scan of the testicles and prostate gland.

Treatment

Treatment includes taking antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and painkillers. Rest and abstinence from sexual activity are also recommended. If chronic, surgical intervention may be required.

The prognosis with timely treatment is favorable. Complications are possible in the form of infertility and chronic pain. Therefore, it is important to promptly consult a doctor if you suspect vesiculitis.

Good afternoon Today I want to talk about vesiculitis - this is an inflammation of the seminal (male) vesicles. This disease is quite rare and is an inflammatory process in the testicular area. The development of the disease is possible in men of any age, but the peak incidence occurs in younger groups of patients.

Vesiculitis develops for several reasons. The main ones include infectious damage to the seminal glands and stagnant processes in them. With any predisposing factor, congestion occurs in the paired organ, leading to aseptic inflammation. Its cause is poor circulation or blockage of microvessels. Most often, the infection enters the seminal vesicles through the ascending route (from the bladder, urethral canal or rectum). Increased pressure in this area during erection or sexual intercourse can also contribute to the spread of inflammation to the testes. Also, pathogenic effects can be transmitted from the directly affected area through the blood or lymphatic system. Symptoms from the genitourinary system are characteristic of an acute inflammatory process. Acute vesiculitis is characterized by the fact that a man experiences the following symptoms: • Acute attacks of pain in the lower genital region of the genitourinary organs; • Pain during sexual intercourse. In addition, they can be observed as painful manifestations
