Viagra

Viagra is a drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. It was launched in the United States by Pfizer and quickly became one of the most popular and effective ways to combat this disease.

The main active ingredient of the drug is sildenafil citrate. Viagra is available in the form of film-coated tablets in three dosages: 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg. It helps increase blood flow to the penis, which results in improved erections.

Viagra is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction of various origins, including organic, psychogenic and mixed forms. In addition, it can be used in patients with diabetes, obesity, after radical prostatectomy or spinal cord injury.

However, there are also contraindications to the use of the drug. Viagra should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to its components or during nitrate therapy. It is also not recommended for use by people with severe liver and kidney dysfunction, anatomical deformations of the penis, myeloma, acute leukemia, sickle cell anemia, increased tendency to bleeding, hereditary retinitis pigmentosa, exacerbation of gastric and duodenal ulcers, severe forms of arterial hypertension and hypotension, as well as in the case of anamnestic indications of a heart attack and stroke suffered in the previous 6 months, life-threatening arrhythmias, heart failure, unstable angina, or under 18 years of age.

When using Viagra, side effects may occur, such as headache, dizziness, vasodilation (hot flashes), hypotension, asthenia, nasal congestion, lacrimation, impaired light and color perception, blurred vision, dyspepsia, diarrhea, nausea, abdominalgia, lumbodynia, arthralgia, myalgia, muscle hypertonicity, insomnia, shortness of breath, skin rashes, predisposition to respiratory and urinary tract infections, prolonged painful erection (more than 4 hours).

It is worth noting that Viagra may interact with other medications. Viagra in combination with alpha-blockers, anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, CYP3A4 inhibitors, some antibiotics and antifungal drugs can enhance orthostatic hypotension caused by nitroglycerin. Therefore, before starting treatment with Viagra, you must consult your doctor and inform him about all the medications you are taking.

In general, Viagra is an effective and safe treatment for erectile dysfunction in men, but its use should only be done after consulting a doctor and following all dosage recommendations and contraindications.
