Inflammation Defensive

Defensive inflammation

Defensive inflammation, or defensive inflammation (Latin defensionis - “protection”, defensio - “protection”) are inflammatory reactions of the body that occur in response to the intake of a substance or to repeated exposure to the skin of an environmental factor that is usually harmless to a given individual, the so-called touchstone stimulus. Defensive inflammatory reactions can occur, for example, in response to various topical medications that are usually safe in other conditions. They differ from allergic reactions (classical inflammatory response), the main difference of which is that no antibodies are formed to a given antigen or to others.
